The Karakol Cattle Market on a Sunday was for me the most exciting attraction in the whole of Kyrgyzstan. The place is packed with animals and people, all pushing and throbbing with energy. This is the beating heart & soul of Central Asia, where business takes place, people meet and money changes hands. Get there early, take a million photos and enjoy . . . it will take you days to get the dung off your shoes.

새벽 동물 시장은 한번 가볼만하데서 갔는데... 내가 머문 호스텔에서 차를 빌려서 같이 간다고 하더라. 그래서 난 되게 먼 곳에 있는 줄 알았는데, 알고보니 걸어서 가도 문제 없겠더라고... 어쨌든 4명이서 각출해서 돈 모아서 가는 걸로 했는데 지금은 얼마였는지는 기억 못하겠네... 가격이 쌌으니 같이 갔겠지? 거기서 만난 한국 친구도 만날 시간과 장소를 정해서 같이 갔었다.
결론?을 굳이 내자면,
1. 중앙 아시아 동물 거래 시장을 목격할 수 있다는 점에서 가볼만하다.
2. 온갖 가축이 거래되는데, 동물 애호가라면 좀 보기가 힘들 수도 있겠더라...
3. 새벽에 열리는 시장이긴 한데, 굳이 차를 타고 이동할 필요는 없다. 걸어서도 갈 수 있지만 시간이 꽤 걸린다.
4. 그늘이 없는 허허 벌판이다. 여름에 간다면 양산을 가져가거나 선 크림은 바르고 가자.
결론?을 굳이 내자면,
1. 중앙 아시아 동물 거래 시장을 목격할 수 있다는 점에서 가볼만하다.
2. 온갖 가축이 거래되는데, 동물 애호가라면 좀 보기가 힘들 수도 있겠더라...
3. 새벽에 열리는 시장이긴 한데, 굳이 차를 타고 이동할 필요는 없다. 걸어서도 갈 수 있지만 시간이 꽤 걸린다.

This early morning Sunday market is very interesting. I trully recommend going if you are nearby (there are other cities in Kyrgyzatan that also have an animal market, so if you are not in Karakol you can probably find another one). You will mainly see sheep, cows, horses and some goats. Most of the animals are not treated as good as they should, so don't be surprised to see horses with open wounds. However, I still recommend to visit the market since it is an approach to local culture.

The Sunday market is the place to be if you want to buy or sell farm animals. It's crowded and the ground is thick with dung. Cows, horses, sheep, and goats are the primary objects of trade.

毎週日曜におこなわれる動物市です。基本、すべて食べるための動物で、うし、うま、ひつじ、とり などが所狭しと並んでいて、現地の人が真剣に交渉するのが見られます。わざわざ行くほどではないと思いますが、日曜日にカラコルにいたらぜひ。

This place sold everything and was just a fabulous place to visit. Just watch out for the dropping of all the different animals. It is a real cattle/ primary animal market and is every Sunday. There are some amazing characters present and the camera was hot for work.

Impressive to see for a few minutes, but don't expect anything other than cattle, buyers, sellers and mud. It's not got music or food stands or anything. Tbh, it's a lot nicer to wonder the country and see the animals grazing in the hills or go ride a horse than seeing them all bunched together and scared while you're trying to puch through the crowd.

I haven’t been to the Kashgar market in China, but this animal market was really impressive with hundreds of animals including cows, horses, sheeps, goats and more for sale. There is animal poo everywhere, so be ready to be pushed, kicked and peed on! There were very few tourists there. Be there early, 7am or when the sun is about to rise.
