This is a small museum dedicated to the fireworks parade of Remedios. What makes this museum so special besides the elaborate, ornate float displays, are the museum guides. The guides represented the two sides of Remedios - San Salvador and El Carmen, and their friendly rivalry as to which town is the best. The guides were extremely funny and entertaining and we said they should take their act on the road. They made the museum so special and personal to us.

Es un museo que muestra la rica tradicion parrandera de la ciudad, fiestas populares que se realizan cada 24 de diciembre, de gran arraigo popular tanto para el cubano como para el extranjero, se debe visitar para conocer las tradicionales parrandas remedianas.

Who would of thought a Museum was so much fun. It actually came down to our host. He spoke Spanish, but we had an interpreter to explain most of what he was saying. We really didn't need an interpreter to see how excited and passionate he was about his Hawks team. (Think two rival football teams)
We actually got to see a video they put together to send to the UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) to become certified as a UNESCO site.
It was the next best thing to see since we wouldn't be able to come back on December 24th to witness this fabulous festival.
The firework displays were something else to behold and would NEVER happen in the USA with our many restrictions. We were oooing and awwing when we witnessed the firework display. They are all hand done and are quite something to behold along with the elaborate costumes and floats.
I would love to be able to see this in person. Every year there is a theme, and the most beautiful girl in the city (by a vote) gets to sit atop of the float for their team. Each year they seem to top the year before.
All this started 100's of years ago because of one lone priest wanting his people in his town to come to church on midnight mass on Christmas Eve.

What an interesting place. Our Host was great! She was so excited and happy to share her love of the Parranda - she made us laugh and really appreciate her love of the festival. We all loved her!!

This place was so much fun! I had no idea about the Parrandas festival, and it was fascinating to learn about it. The entire town is divided into 2 groups - roosters and hawks - and every Dec 24 they have a huge festival with floats and parades. It's similar to the crewes in New Orleans. Our guide spoke mostly Spanish, but was such a great speaker that we understood a lot of what he was saying just from the body language. If you're in Remedios, definitely go here.

Il museo è piccolo, ma davvero interessante. Consiglio la visita con la guida perché la nostra è stata davvero brava e accogliente e un giro senza una spiegazione non sarebbe la stessa cosa. Davvero molto interessante!

This is an interesting place to visit. It makes you wonder how Cuba puts so many resources into this while people live in poverty.
