Review?? I'd have love to if the garden was ever open. Why its in Gardeners World 241 I'll never know, it seems just a lot of wasted space on potential visitors time, paper and energy. It looks as if the 'park' is more interested in commercial ventures than showing the garden and park. Severely disappointed all round. Check out the dates and book it in about two to three months hence

I have only ever written one bad trip advisor review and this is my second. I made a return visit with 13 other people, Yes the gardens are beautiful and yes the cafe is very nice but having to find cash for entrance and in the cafe in this day and age seems unreasonable.
I went to the toilet next to the cafe and had great difficulty turning the handle to get out and I joked when I got out dont get stuck in the loo. Four people followed and also had similar problems. But one of our party aged 80 in fact did find herself unable to get out
Help was obtained from the cafe and the lady said oh that is always happening after she had prized the door open with a knife. How dreadful to admit this.
Whilst old ladies stuck in a lavatory may have a humous ring it isnt funny. Clearly they are doing nothing to address this issue especially for people with a poor grip, arthritis or other issues.
I emailed politely to ask them to fix it and all they replied is
Thank you for your email.
I have passed this on to the maintenance team this morning.
I think the first few words might have been I am sorry your friend had problems visiting your our garden or sorry to hear about your experience
Being and RHS partner garden I have also advised them. Do they really want to encourage their members to visit a garden that cares so little about its visitors
I have told my two garden clubs about this to ensure they avoid it at all cost.We too were thinking of going back another time but no way now and if they dont actually get it fixed ( I have no confidence in them) we dont want to spend more time locked in their toilet thank you

We visited on a weekday in February to see the superb display of snowdrops, aconites and hellebores and we were not disappointed.
The lake and grounds were well cared for. We could not get over the huge amount of snowdrops which were everywhere you looked - absolutely stunning. No picnics allowed in the grounds and dogs were allowed on leads.
We had morning coffee and gluten free cakes in the tearoom which was cosy and warm with a log burner. The gluten free cakes had domed covers and were served with separate utensils - a good sign that they understand the cross-contamination issues for coeliacs requiring gluten free. There was a choice of 2 or 3 cakes and they also had 2 choices of soup and gluten free bread on offer.
It was cash only in the tearoom and on the gate, but we had read about this on the website and it was not a problem. Entrance fee was £7 per person but we were able to use our 2 for 1 voucher from the BBC Gardener's World Magazine and they also offered discounts for RHS members.
A very friendly lady was manning the entrance kiosk and she provided us with a map and told us where to look out for the hellebores.
A very enjoyable morning was had by both of us.

Really excellent displays of snowdrops, aconites etc.
Relatively small garden, but very easy to get around with decent paths, suitable even for someone of (slightly) limited mobility.
On a sunny Wednesday it was "sensibly" busy, not so much you were unable to find seats etc.
Nice cafe, but limited range of foods on offer.
They only take cash, which seems really strange now (and resulted in a long wait on entry while the "cashier" went and got change). Offer free entry to RHS members, which is a major perk.

Slightly off the beaten track but very close to the A11 and Newmarket.
Entrance is £7 but reductions for RHS members.
A season ticket is available online for £20 which is good value if you visit a few times during snowdrop and then daffodil season. The park also opens briefly in the summer and autumn.
Very accessible parkland with well made wood chip pathways and countless benches situated in sunny spots.
Dog friendly for leashed dogs. They could do with a few more bins discretely scattered around to save carrying the poop bags long distances though.
The cafe and entrance to the park are cash only. Food and drinks were quite pricey. Coffee was tasty but the scones were very doughy.
Outside food and drink is not permitted in the park but we saw a few cars in the car park with occupants sitting in picnic chairs eating their own food. Another alternative is La Hogue farm shop and cafe just down the road.

A very peaceful and tranquil venue with gardens and woodland formed around a series of lakes and canals. Good for a walk and amble among the different areas. Cafe area was good.

We went as part of a coach trip and our first time visit in March and what a wonderful place. Beautifully laid out grounds with interesting statues dotted about. A lovely peaceful day out amongst a backdrop of Snowdrops and Daffodils.

We visited to see the snowdrops and to have a walk in the gardens. When we arrived we were given a map and advised where to go to see the best of the gardens, we walked around the lake first and then to the woods where the further you walked the more the snowdrops carpeted the grounds, the daffodils are just starting to come through so will be lovely when they bloom.
The café is small but they have a wood burner and it generates warmth inside, we went at a quiet time and enjoyed a cake and cuppa.
I do think that they should allow people to bring food and drink in so that you could relax with a picnic and sit and enjoy the gardens especially when it is better weather.

I don’t think I have visited such a well cared for garden that is open to the public before. Even at this early time of year it was immaculate, all credit to the ground staff. Every part of the garden had something of interest, planting, design or architectural. The cafe menu was limited but all home made and ideal for a snack.
Entrance fee very reasonable, less than half the price of most NT gardens some noway match the high standard of Chippenham Park. Thank you for a most enjoyable visit.

We were vey impressed by our visit to Chippenham on Valentine's day. Even my husband (who is not a gardener and gets rather bored with snowdrops) enjoyed it. The gardens are managed by a garden designer and it shows in the quality of the design and planting. We loved Adrian's walk by the lake which had a colourful mixture of blue iris, hellebores, snowdrops, aconites and crocus in bloom. The snowdrops in the woodland were stunning and so were the various winter scented shrubs such as daphnes, winter sweet and witchhazel. There is a canal and large lake as well as more formal gardens which would be pretty in the summer. A cosy tearoom with log fire made the day out perfect. We belong to the Historic Houses Association(HHA) which works much the same as the National Trust but for private houses which enabled us to just show our cards at the gate. We highly recommend joining the HHA(a number of fantastic houses in this area including Holkham, Houghton, Sandringham and gardens eg Raveningham) and visiting Chippenham.
