Beautiful building and grounds! Pauline was so friendly and informative and even encouraged us to walk barefoot to St. Patrick's well which was the highlight of our day! Would definitely recommend dropping by!

Spent the day here. Ballintubber Abbey is one of the most peaceful places I've seen. The Abbey and grounds are spectacular.
We were met by Muriel who gave us so much information on the history of the Abbey. My friend was having difficulty getting her motility scooter out of the car and Pauline came to our rescue. Pauline walked us to the entrance and gave us further details about the Abbey and pilgrims path. What an amazing day, I'll be back. Thank you 😊

For anyone with interest in Ireland's history, especially around St. Patrick and is Catholic beginnings, this place is a must visit. Fascinating history, interesting graveyard and very nice grounds for walking around.

We didn't expect such a great and funny tour. The guide Pauline should have her own you tube channel and entertain everyone who cannot visit. The Abbey has an amazing history, we were captivated by the Priest hunter and St Brigid stories. I highly recommend booking a tour, you will not regret it! Don't miss the Moore Hall, only 10 min away, and the charming Cong only 30 min drive from there.

800 year old Catholic stone church. Ancient burial place of O'Connor High Kings. Open to public to pause and pray in private or at public Mass . A lovely place to get married in and or buried nearby. Plenty of car parking. Free to attend but we feel visitors should make a donation to the building and maintenance fund.
Go across the road to the nearby pub for tea and scones or full meal.

What a delightful unexpected pleasure. Traveling in Ireland means stopping at castles and abbeys. However, you never know quite what to expect. Ballintubber Abbey history and grounds proved to be a highlight of the trip. The history came alive with the guided tour and if you go, be sure to view the Stations of the Cross on the grounds around the Abbey. Be sure to listen to or read about the history, continuous Mass since 1216 including 236 years without a roof (thanks Cromwell).

We got a tour of the Abbey and grounds on Friday 24th May with the fabulous guide Pauline. She gave us the full history of the Abbey, animating the stories and characters in her own inimitable way. It was a delight to spend time with her and hear her passion for the Abbey and what it represents to the community.

Delightful visit with the Men of Worth tour. The abbey was exquisite - beautifully restored building and beautiful grounds. Our tour guide, Pauline, was wonderful, taking us through the literal ups and downs of the church and some of the heroes and villains of the day. Don’t miss this facet of Irish history when you visit County Mayo.

I visited with a group of senior citizens. Everyone came away having learned so much and loved the visit. Thanks Pauline for bringing the history of the Abbey to life and giving us memorable facts, all with such good humour.

Hi. Would like to know the best way to go there. Is it easy to get a taxi back from the Abbey and an estimate of how much a taxi trip would cost.
