Every since the old owner is not responsible for wine tasting (which I assume he has retired) this winery is totally ruined.
It has long been assumed that wine tasting could have a few but can be waived upon a purchased- THIS HAS BEEN THE TRADITION FOR LONG! Yesterday we were there for the famous botrytis and was CHARGED $15 per person UPON A PURCHASE OF APPROX $300 of wine.
The winery is also ruined by the 2 ladies on duty. They are exceptionally UNPROFESSIONAL when conducting wine tasting- no guides, no explanations and no discussions at all- they just pour the wine, sit back there chatting each other. BY NO CHANCE THEY KNOW THEIR WINES.
I knew the old owner for quite a few years and this is not the way we’d expect by any chance. The botrytis was very nice but should not be ruined by such unprofessional experience.
DISAPPOINTED. Got the wines I love but never gonna return. Upon our leaving the ladies asked for a rating- here you go, my truly honest opinion.

We randomly picked this winery during our recent trip to Australia, and we were not disappointed. It is somewhat remote, but that meant it was not busy (no one else was there while we were that late Saturday morning. The winemaker was very engaging, and brought each tasting to life with facts, stories, and background. We couldn't help but leave with a couple of bottles to take home.

Had a lovely visit to this very pretty vineyard set on a hill overlooking some wonderful scenery. The winemaker Rob is a very affable chap happy to explain all about his wonderful wines of which the sparkling Chardonnay and the Sauvignon Blanc were our wines of choice. Highly recommended.

Arrived at 10am as we were driving past on our way to Yass. Glad we dropped in. Really interesting wines and interesting conversation with the winemaker Rob. I really liked the sav Blanc and rose. The sweet wines were nice too. They had a red sparkling but it wasn’t on tasting but we bought one anyway.

Jeir Creek Wines is a winery that demonstrates the best wine styles that the region has to offer. Rob Howell is a real Pro when it comes to getting the best out of the grapes from his vineyard. The cellar door is set on top of the hill with views out over the sloping vineyard setting. The winemaking demonstrates a real flare with a ripping Riesling, a subtle yet refined Chardonnay and a voluptuous Viognier among the whites. My favourite Jeir Creek red is the Cabernet Merlot blend and I adore the Sticky - a wonderful botrytis style. You'll be well pleased you took the small trip off the highway to visit Rob at Jeir Creek.

Great host and great wine. A small winery with the stories of from the winemaker. Most amazing muscat I have tasted in a long time. Recommended.

A little out of the way but definitely worth the drive.
Unusual sparkling Shiraz Viognier and a surprisingly good muscat.
We chatted to owner for quite a while after we found out he used to live in the same town.

A great, family run winery with lots of character and excellent wine. The owner spent plenty of time with us talking through the wines and explaining the history of the place. The wines are easily some of the best around and so easily priced. Well worth a visit!

The last off three wineries for the day. We loved almost all the wines. With dry but full flavored sav blanc, Viognier and some lovely fruity reds. Purchased some sparkling Shiraz and Viognier.
Will buy there wines again. The owner Served us there and was a very friendly man with lots of stories to tell.

Mine host Rob Howell will regale you with wine stories as you work your way through the tasting. If there's any of the 2008 Sparkling Shiraz Viognier left ... grab a case or two. It's one of the best and it won't last. An interesting Sauv Blanc too.
