There isn't a lot of walking, but he may want assistance getting into the boat. Additionally, if this cruise goes to the Farmer House restaurant, there is a small dock and steps to walk up. There are pictures on the Mai Ping River Cruise website you can look at. The restaurant is amazing, but there is a slight incline to get there. Hope this helps.

Yes not problem at the half way stage short walk up to place to sit have a drink and get some refreshing fruit I would say not big deal to walk up
