If hunting is something you hope to do during your visit to Botswana, I would highly recommend Kwalata Ranch. It’s located 325 km from Gaborone in the Tulli Block area, about three and a half hours by car.
The property has two camps: Kwalata Main Camp and Duma Tsa Hunting Camp. The Kwalata Camp is the more luxurious accommodation. Fully catered is P1950 per person per night. Self-catered runs about half that. Duma Tsa is self-cater only and runs P420 per person per night. That’s the option I chose.
The camp is located on the banks of the Limpopo. It features military style tents on foundations with electricity. There are two bath houses with cement walls and canvas roofs. Each one has mirror image basin/shower/toilet. There’s a communal kitchen tent with cement walls on two sides and a canvas roof. The kitchen comes equipped with refrigerator/freezer, gas range and stove, microwave, and coffee maker.
You don’t have to hunt. You can opt for a game drive, but it’s mostly game animals. No elephants, rhinos, hippos, or lions. Comparing notes with other hunters, their prices seem fair. And they can provide taxidermy and butchering services with delivery to Gaborone.
