My fifth time at this property, both with family, adult daughters and friends. The staff is incredible, especially Alejandro at the beach restaurant. The omelette maker, sorry forgot your name is the best. The hotel Manager very helpful on reservation mixup. Rooms great, soft beds...เพิ่มเติม

Reserved maroon with a balcony, none were available, rooms offered were not acceptable so I went elsewhere. Informed trip advisor and received no response, was charged for a room I did not use. I am requesting a refund.

Gluten free and Del Mar vs palmar.
Any celiacs been, how was your experience?
What do they do for Christmas?
There is only about a 200 difference for us between Del Mar vs palmar, is it worth it to upgrade?

We stayed at the Villa Del Mar and some friends stayed at the Villa Del Palmar. Both have pros & cons. Villa Del Mar may not be as close to the beach as Palmar, but we're talking about walking another minute or two more. The Mar had views of their pool and Palmar had views of their pool and the beach. The pool area at the Palmar was crowded and full of kids (this pool has the waterslide). And there were "theme nights" (e.g. Mexican Fiesta, Broadway musical night) centered near or around the pool area in the evening. It was much noisier, where the pool at the Mar was more quite and adult-oriented. Both had excellent food & beverage service. We did have to move from our first room (#201) because it was next to a noisy service area. The second room was much quieter. The A/C unit on the balcony didn't make enough noise for us to find disruptive.
As far as food, both properties have access to the same 4 restaurants on the premises and their menus are fairly extensive. You could probably find food to meet your dietary needs at the restaurants and the wait staff is very accommodating. For example, I had egg white omelets for breakfast even though they weren't on the menu.
Depending on what you're look for, the main differences are the balcony views and the noise level at the pools. I think you'd be pleased with either location.
Hello-Could 6 of us fit in one room? We are two adults and 4 children. I can't really afford to get two rooms. We are traveling 03/18 for 5 nights. Thank you!

We were here a few years ago and everytime we ordered a bottle of water or food we had to sign for it and write our room number down.
Do they still do that?

You can either pay in cash or put your room number down/ signing and have the total bill tallied at check out. After paying by credit for a while, we realized we were getting a better exchange rate by paying cash. To get cash, there is a convenient ATM affiliated with Citibank about 2 blocks from the hotel, on the other side of the Avenue, outside the Plaza Caracol.
"Avoid rooms that back-up to service areas. They get loud early in the morning."
