Hello I am thinking about booking this hotel as a celebration holiday with my husband and 2 teenage daughters. I was wondering if someone could please tell me the difference between the platinum and junior plus suites and whether you feel it is worth paying the extra for. We have never visited Mexico before so any other pointers would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

hi, This debate seems to come up quite often. We travelled with a big group to this resort and most stayed in the Junior Deluxe Suites. A few of us opted for Platinum. We felt it was worth the upgrade to Platinum although I have read many reviews feeling it wasn't worth it. We enjoyed the extra perks that went along with the upgrade. There are many perks which we found to our liking. Platinum was almost like a resort within the resort itself. Private bar, roped off beach area, small private pool with waitress service, jet tub in your room as well as on your balcony and your own private concierge. Junior Deluxe guests have to go to main lobby to book your alacart restaurants and have to wait in lines up to an hour to book if they are available. Platinum concierge booked our alacarts and we got any time we wished. As far as room size there is little to no difference. The Platinum buildings are the closet to the beach. All rooms on resort share the same buffets, Platinum offering two extra alacart choices and a private dinner one night. It was always nice to go back to the Platinum area due to it being quiet and peaceful. We spent most of our time on this end of the resort. Two buffets were on this end of resort within a stone's throw of Platinum buildings. The shuttle also runs about every 15 minutes from Platinum to the main lobby,[ It's about a 15 minute walk from beach]. We all had a great time here regardless of what rooms we chose. My Grandfather always used to say " Life is too short to drink cheap beer and dance with ugly women". I didn't understand this when I was younger, but I get it now. If you go here, I hope you have all have a great time like we did and don't forget to take the shuttle to Playa Del Carmen for the day for great shopping.
