This is a wonderful bed and breakfast in a very leafy little village. A magnificent building with tasteful and interesting furnishings. We stayed in a large room with huge windows overlooking the garden (which is worth wandering around). Large comfortable bed and plenty of lovely little touches (dressing gowns, organic biscuits, bed side reading). Sonia, the hostess was very welcoming and even offered us a lift to Leeds Castle for a wedding we were attending. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, a variety of cereals, fruits, pastries as well as a cooked breakfast. If you are in this neck of the woods stay here - it is a real treat!
Stayed overnight with my boyfriend - part business trip/opportunity for romantic night. Arrived v. tired from driving through worst snow seen in 10 years. What a complete and utterly delightful place to stay. Hall full of old carpets and antlers, heavy brocade curtains and a log fire smell. We stayed in the Blue Room - a huge room with chintzy bedding, 800g egyptian cotton sheets, king size bed, georgian wooden shutters, a massive walk in shower that was very powerful, a roll-top bath and the biggest sink with fresh flowers. Lavender bath salts by the bath in a crystal decanter and fresh country soap. Beautiful chintzy chandelier-drop matching main lights in room and bathroom, halogen lights over sink (where it matters!) Enormous fluffy white towels and his and hers dressing gowns. The in-room tea service provided gorgeous teas and Tesco finest crisps if you were hungry! There was a very comfortable sofa in the room with plenty to read. I cannot fault the room and complete insomniacs will fall under its spell. Breakfast was superby at a wonderful long refectory table - fresh raspberries and pineapple and organic yoghurt and cooked breakfast aromas mingled with freshly baked bread. Sonia was the hostess personified, extremely gracious - even when I came down, distraught, having had a nose bleed on her beautiful (and very expensive) cushions. We were made to feel so welcome and she maintained that wonderful balance where the host knows when to provide company and when to just leave well alone. We were invited to spend the evening in the (huge) family living room in front of a roaring fire but instead, having had a late bar snack in the Black Horse, just retired to our room (which had its own separate wing). Thoroughly, thoroughly recommend it and do make the effort to go out of your way to stay here - there is no better B&B than this one. Believe me! Oh by the way, Sonia also has a business side-line of selling beautiful 1000g egyptian cottons and bed linens at UNBELIEVABLE prices. If you hanker after the same bed experience as her two rooms provided - this is your opportunity to replicate it in your own home! I will definitely be visiting again on my next business trip down in Kent. …
Moving back to the UK after a stressful house-move it was the perfect place to stay. For anyone travelling across the channel its the ideal stop off for convenience, and more importantly relaxation and luxury. Sonia could not have been more welcoming. The house possessed all the charms of a stylishly renovated Old Rectory. Beautiful room, bathroom with deep Victorian bath & all the extras to hand - big fluffy towels, French lavander bath salts, big cosy dressing gowns, Crabtree body lotions....pure relaxation! Can also recommend the lively traditional Black Horse Pub at the top of the road for a great supper (Monday and Tuesdays 3 course offer for £12.25 is amazingly good value!). Breakfast was also just the BEST! Fresh fruits, yoghurts, Dorset museli, toast, preserves, fresh coffee and if you can the full English breakfast as it was too good to miss out on! …
A truly wonderful place to stay. I have stayed here twice now and it just gets better and better. The gardens are very large and beautiful. Lots of lavender and roses with huge trees giving just the right amount of shade. The house is magnificent and is kept beautifully clean. Fluffy towels and scented soaps, tea, coffee etc all made available when needed. The lady running this B+B could not be more friendly or welcoming and provides a very hearty breakfast. Fantastic.
