We arrived at check in by a very nice lady who immediately tried to get us to change rooms from the one we'd booked upstairs to one downstairs because the stairs going up to no.5 are extremely steep but we decided we would keep our original room as the one that was being offered (no.2) didn't have a window as such as it was boarded over and being off of the main lobby it was likely to be pretty noisy. We were shown to our room and it was quite nice, a good size the bathroom was okay and very clean and tidy. We went out for a short stroll down walking street and decided to go back to the room for a cool down and a shower. This was when we discovered the air con didn't work. We went to reception and there was no surprise, no questions about the settings (the first thing you're usually asked) so my guess is they already knew it wasn't working. The afore mentioned nice lady asked us to move to a different room which was great until we were shown what was basically a hovel with the plug socket hanging off and disgusting looking brown stains over the wall and being next the reception, kitchen and laundry area it was extremely noisy, heaven knows what it would be like in the evening with people coming in and out of the hotel, we said this room was terrible and we couldn't stay in it a d this was met with a demand for an extra 800 baht to move us to a different room because they couldn't get the air con fixed on a Sunday. To be fair to the hotel, they have us our money back but we were in a strange town without a room, not good. …
