Really enjoyed our five night stay here. The top field is such a great space with big pitches, each one cut into the meadow. Fires allowed, showers hot, and everything really well thought out. The car free field means that it’s quieter and more relaxing if you have small kids. Highly recommended.

We had such a horrendous encounter and subsequent treatment by the owner, I felt I had no choice but to leave this review as a warning to anyone thinking of booking here. I wouldn’t wish our experience on another family. On our arrival the owner came out of her house with a large dog and from the first word, was hostile and rude to us in front of our 6 year old. She was angry because we had booked a campervan pitch and our vehicle wasn’t a campervan. I fully admit that I hadn’t anticipated that parking our Land Rover next to our bell tent (which we use as a place to sit and store the plug-in cooler / kitchen stuff) would be an issue, because we had paid the £30 extra premium to do so. The owner couldn’t articulate any logical reason why the Defender couldn’t be allowed on the pitch, except that it wasn’t a campervan — but had she explained politely that this was their policy for ‘x, y and z’, we would, of course, have been happy to go onto a normal pitch. But the atmosphere was now horribly grim. And I must add that the dog poo in the car park and the smell wafting from the compost toilets didn’t aid the atmosphere either. Having mutually agreed with her that after the unpleasant exchange, no one felt that us staying or ever returning to the campsite was on the cards, she refunded us our money and we left feeling shocked, disappointed, and with our 6 year old in tears. Unfortunately, we already had a second trip to the campsite booked a couple of weeks later, and the owner subsequently refused to refund us the full amount, citing their 28 day cancellation policy. The £82 she kept, despite her not wanting us to return to the campsite, represents a significant chunk of holiday money to our family. And seeing as the campsite owners have just completed building a brand new mansion, I feel they really didn’t need to keep it for themselves, especially considering there was two weeks remaining before the booking AND it would be the summer holidays — they would have no problem replacing us… Now, perhaps they will. I highly recommend Hatchers Farm in Preston, Canterbury. The owners are friendly, you get an enormous pitch between orchard trees, the facilities are immaculate, and it’s roughly half the price.…

We have just got back from a sunny weekend glamping in Sunnyfield. There were several families with young children. The set up is amazing- the tents are all spotted around the field with walk ways through the long grass. It was great to allow the children some freedom and play with their friends in a safe environment. The pizzas from the pizza oven on the Friday night were delicious and saved us having to think about cooking. The downside were the owners didn’t make us feel like they were happy having people staying in the field next to their property. We had received an email informing us the group who stayed the weekend before had been playing music, and were making noise into the evening. We fully respected this and were very surprised when they approached us at lunchtime and asked them to stop making noise. Our children were playing chase and hide and seek- so laughing and having fun- making happy noise.…

We stayed here for 3 nights having amended our previous booking which was booked during lockdown. There were Good Covid measures in place at this campsite. Cost £180 for 3 nights during the week (M-T) for 1 large tent, 2 adults and 3 children. The dog was free. We were pitch number 1 which is usually used for campervans but due to the size of our tent we were more than happy to pitch here. Which also enabled us to drive our trailer onto the pitch. We really liked the layout and sizes of the pitches with the individual paths that led you to your area off the main path. The children enjoyed bringing the items from the car in the wheelbarrows as it’s a car free site. Also great sharing pitches if you want to stay here with friends or family but don’t know whether you’d still have to pay £60 per unit per night. The showers in the old horse boxes were qwerky and functional with hot water but we weren’t a fan of the compositing toilets. A real treat was hot water at the washing up station. The owners are keen recyclers which is rare at campsites. If you want perfection there are a couple of things that we think are needed to enchance your stay and don’t think/feel you can stay here for a long period of time without these; a freezer to refreeze the ice blocks on the top field (We had to ask where we could refeeze our ice blocks for the coolbox as it wasn’t offered upfront, we were intially informed it was glampers only but they made an exception and we were able to refreeze them in the big chest freezer which was located at the bottom of a really steep hill by the orchard field) and somewhere where you can recharge your phones or battery packs (even if it is for a nominal charge!) Campsite is close proximity to Hythe which has a lovely beach. Think we’ll return next year for a weekend so we can go back to hythe and have fish and chips one evening on a bench watching sunset and the sea rolling in and out. …
