We spent a quiet night at Casa do Balcao. Alcains is a small village very close to Castelo Branco. The accommodation is in the center, in the old house which has been tastefully maintained and decorated with the attention to details. The room and common areas were spotlessly clean. We had a double room on the second floor. It was large, nicely furnished, the bed was comfortable. We had a nice view of the garden and the village roofs and church. The room had a sitting area and TV. The bathroom was spacious and had a shower. We could make our evening tea downstairs in the shared kitchen. The breakfast, served in ground floor dining room, was tasty and copious. Our host spoke English and was friendly. We could park on the street just next to the house. We recommend this place highly.…
