Our recent trip to Colorado for some skiing (and of all years, the snow this year has been incredible!) brought us to that perilous stretch of I-70 where some of Colorado's best skiing can be found. Our travel agent booked us at the Weaterop Lodging Bed and Breakfast, which we were assured would be a welcome change from the overwhelming and overcrowded mega-resorts that are all too common on the ski properties. Weathertop Lodging was a comfortable, stately and warm B&B that would be our choice of stay year-round. Located in the unbelievably small town of Silver Plume (population: 150), not far from the slightly larger town of Georgetown, Weathertop Lodging was quiet and relaxing. The innkeeper ensured that our stay was the best it could be and was more friendly than any hotel personnel I have ever encountered. Breakfast (included) was served each morning, at your leisure, and it was delicious each day. Since there are only a few rooms in the tiny Victorian home, you receive personal attention without the distractions of multitudes of other guests. The rooms are uniquely appointed and decorated, with modern furnishings (our room had a brand new 32 inch flatscreen) and clean facilities. After a long day of skiing, I couldn't imagine a better place to relax and get a good night's sleep. All in all, I highly recommend Weathertop Lodging for a convenient and special choice for a stay of any length in this corridor of I-70. And the rates were exceptional, and returning visitors get a discount! …
