I read your negative review describing your recent visit to Twelve Oaks Plantation B&B. Your comments have me perplexed. I am not sure why you believe I have lied to you; therefore, I will answer your accusation in hopes you will understand my disagreeing with your use of the word ‘liar.’
My daughter Kacy processed your reservations, and notified our staff members of your pending arrival date and time. Although Amy’s home is near Twelve Oaks, she is one of Twelve Oaks full-time staff members. Louisiana is fortunate to have several B&B’s, and not all of the B&BS have someone living there, or staying while there are guests on the property.
The gourmet breakfast is prepared by me and served by Kacy. I’m sorry that you were not happy with the breakfast that consisted of fresh fruit, homemade bread, waffles and specialty syrup that met your request for a no-meat meal.
I wish you had elaborated on the “treated like unwanted house guests.” As you made note of the reviews for Twelve Oaks, our guests are always treated graciously. As to your statement, “this is not a working sugar plantation,” Twelve Oaks is a 750 acre working sugar cane and soy bean plantation. To see the farm in full operation, you would need to be a guest during the land preparation, planting, harvesting of sugar cane and combining of soy beans. For your edification, a plantation is a large agriculture property dedicated to planting a few crops on a large scale.
Twelve Oaks Plantation B&B is housed in a Georgian style home. You mentioned the ‘starving’ horse! To be correct there are two horses on the property, a farrier checks the hooves every 6 months, and they are scheduled with a Veterinarian every year.
The pool is not for guest use because we are in the process of having the pool permanently filled. Due to our water table, the pool is being slowly emptied.
I am sorry that you felt your visit was not satisfactory…but as you stated, our home was much better
than how you described your impression of New Orleans.
