For under $100 we got an entire suite. We had a full kitchen, master bedroom, bathroom, dining room, sitting room and office. We stayed in the downtown location and we were in a great location to visit everything in Havre De Grace. We were near restaurants, the water, and many shops. The interior was very outdated, not modern at all and the air conditioning was a little slow to warm up, but overall we enjoyed our stay. It was nice, safe and quiet. The hotel was easy to contact and we had no problems. We would stay here again if returning to Havre de Grace, and for the price, you should definitely stay the night!
For $119 I wasn't expecting to be wowed by this place- but wow! Check in at noon- key left in mail box for us. Up the stairs to 2nd floor- open the door to a 5 room apartment- water front views -tons of windows- 3 flat screen tvs- full kitchen- king bed- great bathroom- comfortable furniture- some antique-chandelier in dining room. Walk to restaurants, bars, shopping and waterfront. The building is slightly run down and funky but has charm.
We travelled to Harve de Grace, Maryland for the 4th of July. We had heard about a huge parade and fireworks every 4th of July. We stayed at the Old Chesapeake Hotel, 700 Commerce St building and were very surprised that it was actually a full suite with a living room, full kitchen, bedroom and huge bathroom. The cost was considerably less than chain hotels in the area and it was located about one block from Tyding Park where the fireworks were to occur. The accomodations were terrific. The parade was awesome. Two full hours with multiple marching bands. This is a great small town to visit. Historically it was attacked by the British in the War of 1812 and served as a waypoint for the underground railroad in the mid 1800's.
I don't know which was worse -- the smell or the overall filthy condition of the "suite." The smell is really difficult to describe, but imagine a combination of having cooked liver in a small apartment plus the smell of a dead (and decaying) mouse. Sure enough, there were glue traps in the place for mice. The carpet (which was, at one time, a tan color) was so disgustingly dirty that it was scary. My wife would not walk in the place without shoes on, and she woke up at 4:30 a.m. to pack because she wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. She summed it up best: "They have a lot of nerve charging money to rent this place out to the public." DO NOT GO!!!
