Small resort on Three Islands Lake. Owner Dean was the perfect host. He made sure we had everything we needed and even stopped to chat around the fire one evening. The cabins are clean, comfortable, and stocked for cooking. Short walk to the docks and access to boats and paddle-boats. Our kids caught their fill of sunfish and blue gill and our neighbors brought home bass and walleye. Very peaceful setting, perfect for a family get away or a fishing trip.
We stayed at Woodhaven during memorial week. I was looking for a resort on a lake in the Bemidji area. I found Woodhaven Resort. I admit that the price had me a little scared, for cheap means run down and dirty, but I have a dog to bring with. When we arrived we were the only ones in the resort, Beth took us to cabin 2 which I had a deposit and she said maybe you would be more comfortable in cabin 1. So we looked at both and took cabin 1 with a screen porch. And my worries were over. We ran into some hot weather and the air conditioning and fan's were welcomed. The lake "Three Island Lake" was so, so for fishing. The best part is you can go to any lake you want in the Bemidji area, you just have to trailer your boat to another lake. The cabin was a nice surprise, Knotty Pine on the walls and ceiling. The beds clean and comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need, from pots and pans to the electric hand mixer, microwave, coffee pot and a couple of crock pots, and a big pancake griddle. You really don't need to bring anything from home except the fillet knives and of course food, and there is a new chop house near by, but we could not go for we had the dog. I will have to say I love this resort, it had a nice vibe to it and I will be going back. As far as swimming you will want to anchor in deep water to swim, for the bottom has a lot of sediment, or just go to another lake. And because its not a great fishing lake it is nice and quite, with lots of loons to listen to. To sum this trip up I have paid more for less at other resorts and the big plus is you don't have to rent the whole week you can do weekends or just a few days. I was not disappointed at all. The owners Bernie are Beth are just great people. Can't wait to go back.…
This little Pa-and-ma resort in the only resort on Three Island Lake, north of Bemidji. Your hosts, Bernie & Beth Fennell, have a very nice place with comfortable but not fancy cabins in a beautiful setting. One of the cabins dates back to when the railroad was logging the land - Bernie is a history buff and loves to tell the story. There are only five cabins. Most of the cabins have been updated with new plumbing fixtures and nice kitchens. You'll be comfortable. It's a drive from town, but Bemidji is a college town and has plenty of attractions and things to do.
