This was the third time we have been to Mt Vernon. We arrived on a Tuesday. At the time of checking in we were told that there was a pin number for the bathrooms. That one bathroom does not have showers. Pick our site from what was open. We were given the booklet and papers. We have always understood that sites were first come, first serve and has been that way since we opened a membership. We started out at the beginning and saw a sewer site. Went by and took a look around. Saw that 2 sewer sites now have cabins in the site. It was about 3:00 now, we were tired and wanted to settle, so we took another look at the sewer site. Someone was out and we asked if it was available. He stated that whomever was there had just left. So we parked. After parking we saw a sign that stated that one should not disturb anyone on the site and if you want to know more about the availability of the site to go back to the office. It was already late in the afternoon and we understood the notice to state that if someone was parked in the site they were not to be disturbed. That if we wanted to know more about the site to go to the office. The site was empty, so we already knew about the site at that time. So we stayed there and turned in our site slip to let them know where we parked. Later that same day someone from the park was going around checking site tickets. The park knew that we were parked there. After dinner we took a look at all of the papers to see what if anything is different. We did see something about asking at the office to reserve a sewer site. But it was empty and no one had taken it by the 12 noon deadline. So we thought that since we turned in the site slip and someone had already checked the site that we were fine. Wednesday and Thursday went by. Friday it was raining. It was now after 2 in the afternoon. My husband saw a few that were washing their vehicles. He asked one if it was allowed. They said they did not know. So he took another look at the rules and it did not state that washing a vehicle was not allowed. He decided to wash in the rain. So that the rain would keep the truck wet and help clean. An employee saw him washing the truck and came over. No greeting, just yelling no washing vehicles here. Stop it now. My husband stated that it does not state it in the rules. The employees response was "I don't give a F the rules state no washing". My husband said OK. Then he asked what the employees name was. He said John. Then he asked what was his last name. The employee responded and said that he does not have to give his last name and that he will be hearing from the manger. My husband came in and tried to call the office. He only got the answering machine. He tried again and got the machine again. He was getting ready to go to the office when the manager with the employee and another employee showed up. No greeting at all. She just stated that we were not allowed to park in a sewer site. That the site was reserved for Friday and we had to leave. The manager was asked so you are kicking us out. She said no, just move to another site. She was then asked if what was being done was because of the employee. The manager yelled, don't talk about my employees like that. And then proceeded to tell us how badly her employees have been treated. That we have to move. Not once did the manger even want to know our side and what had happened. She was not even concerned that the employee was using foul language while talking to my husband. Of which he never used any with the employee. The manager said that they could legally do what they are doing with the sewer sites, while also stating that according to our membership we did have the right to first come, first serve to a site. The second time we were at Mt Vernon, which was the year before. There was nothing stated that sewer sites had to be reserved. We have never seen Thousand Trails sites reserved and everything given to us at each park states that there is no reserving of sites. This is the first time we have encountered being told that a site had to be reserved. As to the site we were in the park knew for four days that we were there and did not say anything to us. There was a sewer site right next to us that was vacant. Who was there left early and could have easily been given to the person they said reserved the site for Friday instead of the one we were in. In all of the years we have had our membership and all of the different parks we have visited. This is the first one that the manager and employee had treated us so disrespectfully. Did not allow us to talk, or question. They did not allow us the respect that they demand from clients. We did vacate the site and the park and have no desire to visit it ever again. We will also let everyone that asks about Mt Vernon about our experience there.

Hi Judy, We are sorry you didn't have a great time at the Mount Vernon Campground. Unfortunately, you've written your review on the wrong business. This is the page for the Mount Vernon RV park, located on memorial hwy near downtown Mount Vernon. We'd love for you to give Mount Vernon another try, but this time at out our park!

Pleasant RV staff, met us on arrival, gave us a good pull thru for overnight parking, did not have to unhook towed vehicle. The turn at the end was tight, requiring some maneuvering to navigate, otherwise pleasant experience

Smaller established facility that has a nice mix of long term, permanent , and transient clients. Clean showers, bathrooms and laundry. Grounds are well maintained with good spacing between stalls. Nice staff and a pleasant stay. Would return again.

Stayed in our 37' motorhome over the July 4th weekend, 4 nights. Beautiful, manicured park. Big rig friendly with good interior roads. Nice clean laundry facilities, friendly and helpful on site manager. Lots of trees, good cable tv connection. No trailer trash sites. This place is a keeper.
