The highlight of staying here, as with all the resorts this region, is the morning’s spectacular fog laden landscape. Our small but exquisite cabin is located at the front of the resort. There are only 2 such cabins with front row views, it is highly recommended to get these. Though priced slightly more, it was totally worth it. The cabin is well equipped and stylish. There is a table too small for doing any reasonable work on a notebook, but hey, who’s here for work. A large deck with short bench fringes the front. We were fortunate the week we were in Khao Kho, there was sporadic rain almost every day. The breeze was very gentle, and that guaranteed the morning spectacle of fog. You get about 3 hours of the awesome scenery. As the sun rose, the fog elevated and the entire resort was shrouded in fog. With the tress and the uniqueness of the architecture, I felt like I was geo-relocated somehow. I woke half an hour before 6, and just sat it out all the way till 9 enjoying the breathtaking morning display. It was both relaxing and refreshing. Breakfast was delivered to our door step. A plate of simple sausages and eggs, with a large portion of greens and cream. My kid had hot porridge. There is no restaurant in this resort, no eating area, no coffee shop. We had our breakfast on the front porch of our cabin. Therefore, do not expect to find any meals, nor full hotel services of any sort. It can be a good place to just idle out the afternoon in the room relaxing, hiding away from the world. But if you have kids along, that confinement may drive them nuts. This resort is simple and do not have the large assortment of facilities matching 4 to 5 stars hotels. Checked in 6 in the evening after an awesome drive on Route 12 from Phitsanulok. Had a good shower and headed out for dinner nearby. Headed back for a good night’s sleep and woke early. Enjoyed relaxing out the front of the cabin for a good few hours. Mosquito repellent necessary, but otherwise it was fine. As the sun rose and killed the fog, as it got hot, we checked out at 10. Well, one may wonder why pay near USD 100 for something so extraordinarily simple. I found it worthwhile because I can tell it’s not one of those “lets pull some funds together from the villagers and construct a hotel” kind of thing. The place is well thought, well designed, saturated by heavy flora and stylish. Plus, wake in the morning and be teleported into another realm, you will know why then. As long as no future development comes along and obstruct the valley view, all will be fine.
