Nestled along the banks of Mae Nam Ping (the Ping River), Ruen Thai Ban Rim Nam is boutique hotel that offers peace and quiet. Away from the city center of Kampaeng Phet, the property is simple, yet comfortable. The grounds are adorned with plants and flowers and there are tables and chairs along the river – perfect for enjoying morning coffee. The “check in desk” is a large wooden table under a sala, yet check in only takes 2 minutes. We had three of us and the hotel offers varying room choices. We had a room with a queen and a twin bed – perfect for our stay. The mattresses were very comfortable. The bathroom is a typical smallish Thai style, but certainly met our needs. Water, coffee, and snack cakes are offered for the duration of stay and the room features a dorm-sized refrigerator. A common-use kitchen is also available for all guests. There is no restaurant or room service, so plan ahead if you like a late-night snack or something in the morning to start your day. Reserving the room was simple through Agoda, who then passed the reservation through sister company, Booking. Cancellation 24 hours with no penalty was available. When passing through Kamphaeng Phet, or visiting family and friends like we were, Ruen Thai Ban Rim Nam makes for a great, comfortable stay at a budget-traveler price. I highly recommend this property and would certainly stay there again.

Ours was the tinest room I've ever seen - impossible for 2 people to stand abreast, giving it a rather claustrophobic effect. Aircon was clean and worked well but the best part were the very clean and colorful sheets and fluffy pillows - lovely! The bathroom was one of those where the shower soaks the entire room so be careful of the toilet paper and any dry towels - all fair game!
Property is a fair ways out of town, not walking distance to anything. No food offered on premises during our stay. Nearby restaurants close at 8.

It was over forty years ago when I frugally back packed across Asia, and that was the last time I experienced a room as small as those in this hotel.
That said, the bed was super comfortable.
It's 6+ km from Kampaengphet, and that's where you'll have to go to eat (there's no food here) (with the exception of a small Thai café called ไร่แรงดิน (rai raeng din)).
We sat by the river for a couple of beers, but ants got the better of us.

I have come to love this place set in a beautiful garden on the river. My husband and I come here often when we need rest from the noise and demands of our work in the countryside. The rooms are very reasonably priced, stylish, and COMFORTABLE. They have wonderful mattresses. This place also provides beautiful spots to sit in the shade of beautiful trees on the riverside. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and The WiFi is good. It is a little ways outside of the city, so is more convenient for those who have their own transportation.
