Thank you for finding the time to review our humble little Farm Shop on Kangaroo Island. We are a family run business with me running the Farm Shop and my husband being the oyster farmer. We moved from Adelaide with our two young children and bought the oyster farm in 2008. Since then we have branded our oysters as Kangaroo Island Premium Oysters which are now sought after as a boutique oyster on the Australia Market.
In 2010 our farm was hit by a major storm which wiped out half of our stock setting us back financially for a number of years. We opened The Oyster Farm Shop, in that same year and started to sell our oysters directly to visitors and locals.
A Farm Shop can be defined as “A farm shop sells direct to the public fresh produce and/or local foods that are grown, picked, reared or produced on the farm or nearby to where the shop is located. Some farm shops also resell related goods. “ A Farm Shop is not a restaurant, fish and chip shop, or a café. By showcasing Island Aquaculture produce and sustainable seafood we have created a year round business model for our seasonal product making it a sustainable venture in the difficult business environment of Kangaroo Island.
We are thrilled that you enjoyed our fresh oysters and appreciate your view regarding the cost of kangaroo island abalone and king George whiting both of which are highly prized species.
Once again, thank you for finding the time to review our little Farm Shop. We will take your feedback onboard and continue to improve our business.
